Padding The Meters

The short version

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing. We collect only what is needed to run the site, and only when you choose to provide it.

What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

Email address — if you create an account. Used for sign-in and account recovery. We do not send marketing emails.
Username — if you create one. Displayed on your profile and content you post.
Password — if you sign up with email and password. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party auth provider.
Battle.net BattleTag and characters — only if you voluntarily link your Battle.net account. We collect your BattleTag and characters level 60 and above across all game versions. This is used to show your WoW persona on the site (guides, comments, ratings). You can unlink your account at any time.
Warcraft Logs report data — when you paste a Warcraft Logs URL, we fetch the cast data from that public report. This is the core function of the site.
Subscription and billing information — if you purchase a supporter tier. Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

How we use it

We use your data solely to operate Padding The Meters. That means:

Letting you sign in and use the site.
Displaying your WoW persona on content you create.
Processing your subscription payments.
Showing you your own history (guides, comparisons, comments).

We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, track you across other sites, or sell to data brokers.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run the site:

Clerk — authentication and account management.
Stripe — payment processing for supporter subscriptions.
Supabase — database hosting for site data.
Warcraft Logs API — fetching public log data.
Blizzard Battle.net API — character data when you link your account.

Each of these services operates under its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. If you want your data removed, contact us and we will delete it. You can unlink your Battle.net account from your profile at any time.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
